This 15,160 sq. ft. facility was years in the making. In addition to being firematically correct, the station’s look and location were crucial concerns because one of New York State’s Finger Lakes bisects the Fire District which stretches 3.7 miles down one side of the lake and 7.8 miles down the other. The site best for response time was in a residential neighborhood of historic homes. The ultimately built facility sits on the site consistently favored by the Volunteer Department from day one. The facility had to be appropriate for the neighborhood and convey its civic purpose of a highly visible corner site. Mitchell Associates worked with QPK Design as the firematic design consultant.
