Project Description
Winner of a 2015 Notable Design Award from Firehouse Magazine
Construction is completed for the new East Putnam (CT) Fire Station. The District worked with the USDA to secure low cost funding for a 13,062 sq ft building that replaces a 3,132 sq ft facility built in the 1950’s. The new station is located on a 21 acre parcel that’s more centrally located and has space for outdoor training and recreation. It’s estimated that response times will be reduced by 3-4 minutes. The station is built to last, with a steel and masonry structure that can withstand New England weather and intensive use, and innovative wood wall construction in the office area that will have R-32 insulation.
